Beer Bars - Pattaya

Pattaya is the big daddy of all "Adult Entertainment" areas in Thailand.  While many other parts of the country boast their share of Bars and Girls, Pattaya is packed to the brim with choice.  I'll cover a few of the well known Bar Hubs here, but you could spend a very long time in Pattaya and still discover more.

Walking Street - South Pattaya

The South Pattaya Walking Street is probably the most well known Entertainment Area with many tourists arriving just for the purpose of enjoying the delights.

After the road closes to car traffic in the evening, the area is alive with people, awash with neon colour and a symphony of sound with "hello", "Welcome Handsome Man" and "Where you from" being the extent of the English skills of many of the girls.  Don't panic, there are enough that DO know enough English to get you through.  Also, in recent years, Russian signs and language are more common.

The Walking Street, and the small Soi's (lanes) running from it are crowded with Beer Bars, GoGo Bars, Sex Shows and places to eat when you need to rebuild your strength.  A person could spend hours sitting in one of the small bars and just watching the world pass by.

Some of the Beer Bar complexes also feature Thai Boxing to keep the crowd amused.  Expect the Boxers to visit the crowd soliciting tips after each bout.  I actually enjoy venues that have this and occasionaly the fights are "real" rather than scripted.

Soi 6 - Central Pattaya

Soi Yodsak, or as it is also known, soi 6, is one of Pattaya's more infamous "entertainment" areas. Running from Beach Road up to Second Road and only a few hundred metres long, but soi 6 boasts more than 60 bars and plenty of willing naughty girls.

Soi 6 has the full range of open-air beer bars, sports bars, a few GoGo bars, an English pub, and massage houses. The main feature of soi 6, and the reason so many guys visit, are the short time bars. With such bar names as Route 69, Hole In One, Love Club and Horny Bar, there's no second-guessing what soi 6 is all about.

Walking down Soi 6 is safe enough, indeed far safer than walking along the beach side of Beach Road as there is a lot of foot traffic and the area is well lit with a fiesta of neon.

The short-time bar format is less common than Gogo bars and beer bars. Short-time bars are exactly as they are named, a bar you go to for a drink and to take the girl (usually to a room on premises) for a short-time "Happy Ending" experience.

In the short-time bars of soi 6, girls typically sit outside in sexy, skimpy apparel showing plenty of flesh and call out to any and every guy passing by. Competition is fierce with bars offering the same services at the same prices lined up next to each other.

When entering a "Short Time" bar, it is best to choose your girl outside, rather than in the dark interior of the bar. Buy her a drink and one for yourself and you'll find that she will do everything she can to get you to go upstairs to oe of the rooms. Let's be clear here, these bars are set up for cheap available sex and there is very little pretence from the girls that it is anything more. These bars are great if you are short on time or money, but not half as much fun as some of the other bar formats.

I'd be mean in suggesting that Soi 6 is a lower class area and that many of the girls rely on the miracle of make-up to lure the male tourists, but even the girls themselves stive to get out and find a job in one of the GoGo or Beer Bars that line the walking street.

Don't take your camera with you here as you'll find they aren't welcome, while other areas don't mind so much.  If you want to take photos, always ask ... Ask the Mamasan and the girls themselves.

Soi 7 and Soi 8 - Central Pattaya

Soi 7 and Soi 8 have a lot of bars, predominatly Beer Bars, but there are some GoGo bars as well.

These bars are more about fun and not focused on sex only, whle you can rest assured that there is plenty on offer.

The whole area of bars is framed by Beach Road, Soi 7, Soi 8 and Second Road and you can spend a great deal of time sampling them all. 

Jomtien Beach - East Pattaya

Jomtien Beach, around the corner from Pattaya proper, is a relatively new area and does not have the range of bars nor the number of girls that some of the other areas have.

The pace is less hectic and may actually be a good starting point for someone new to the Beer Bar scene.

Where ever you go in Thailand, you will find beautiful willing girls in the Beer Bars, so don't discount the area too quickly as you may find a stunning girl who can make all your fantasies come true.

Naklua - North Pattaya
